The shaded silver leaf thread used for the peacock's tail feathers hasn't been manufactured since the early 1980s. When I found it I knew immediately what it was for. That iridescent, color shifting shimmer on those tail feathers? That's a thread that simply doesn't exist anymore 

THE DESIGN 8.5 x 16 inches

A full peacock in goldwork and thread embroidery — his body worked in peacock green and peacock blue spiral purl, his extraordinary tail feathers shaded in rare vintage metallic thread outlined in gold cording, the whole piece surrounded by flowing gold scrollwork on a rich black canvas background with pearls scattered throughout.

This is a substantial kit. Plan for a couple of weeks of happy stitching. 💜

WHAT'S IN THE KIT

• Black cotton canvas — pre-printed and ready to stitch
• 2-3 sizes of gold plated cording — for outlines, scrollwork and detail
• 6-7 spools of rare shaded silver leaf thread — vintage, not made since the early 1980s — for the tail feathers
• Gold plated passing thread — 0.16mm smooth
• Peacock green AND peacock blue spiral purl — for the body
• Sequins — for the wing detail but the wings can also be stitched with passing thread
• Full step by step instructions

All passing threads are 0.16mm smooth — please wax before use for best results. Embroidery hoop not included.

A NOTE FROM ME

I've been playing with the wing treatment — at the moment I'm using sequins but I'm also exploring stitching the wings like the tail feathers which I think is more harmonious. I'll be experimenting on my next stitch out and will update the kit accordingly. Either way she is going to be absolutely stunning.
